No time to write this week. Work is brutal. I’m having a hard time getting it all done and I’m sure it’s the same for you. Who cares, if you’re at work right now, make sure the boss isn’t looking, get vrafan.com on the screen and check out Ventura racing news. Surfnsprint is already on that Amtrak railway to Santa Maria, where the best of the west will throttle down Saturday night. United States Geological Service is forecasting a 21.0 earthquake. Jess Carlucci and Darren Gunnell battled in heat two. Gunnell won the main but was put back to third for a…hmmm……”over enthusiastic start.”

“I’ll take that win!” Randall Dougan celebrates first place with son Cameron and friend Jacob. Randall and Darren Gunnell have pulled within striking distance of point leader Joel Chavez.

Junior Focus Midget driver David Perry Jr. drifts in turn two and gets clipped by Tyler Edwards. Edwards transferred and won the Main.

Charlie Butcher tries to get past Dennis Simunovich.

Lance Butler gets sideways and Amanda Green arrives on the scene with disastrous consequences.

Speedy Tyler Edwards has almost caught Charlie Butcher in the point’s race. Butcher is going to have reach deep for this one. Edwards has the eye of the tiger.

Templeman’s top ten finish put him on the cusp of passing Kevin Kierce in the point’s race. Not so fast. Kevin is the most tenacious driver in Ventura this year. Expect to see both at the Santa Maria Grand Slam working it out.

Brandon Thomson and Brian Camarillo in Heat Two was one of the year’s highlights! Good friends wheel to vicious wheel.

John Nock and Bobby Michnowicz Get It On

Greg Taylor can step on any track with a reasonable expectation to win.

Taylor has assembled a young and aggressive team in the pits, including Nate, Bernie, Steve, Eric and Lea. They do work and they’re not into excuses.

Okay, it’s one am and I have to be at work at five am! But all my brain can think about is Santa Maria. Bud Stansfield rocked. Murphy, Pombo, Sheridan, Hamblyn, Taylor, Kierce, Faria and all my Central Cal friends and enemies. It’s going to be insane. I need someone to watch my back. Maybe Gary Costa will be there!
